Last glimpse of trying it out

Okay so last night was my final preview of my Edinburgh hour "John Hastings: UnRelentless". It was in a theatre studio called the courtyard in Shoreditch which is London's tight jeans and Pabst's Blue Ribbon district. The audience was a perfect representation of my worst fear of Edinburgh; three people.

Now here is where things go sideways, the three individuals were a television personality, a publicist and my Edinburgh promoter. THAT WAS IT.

So let me pause and say I have done some odd shows such as a road house shit kicker bar in Porters Lake Nova Scotia (which concluded with a man threatening to shoot me with a shot gun), a military legion hall where a floral dressed 75 year old woman called me a faggot (my future canadian booker was in attendance and was shocked I did not say anything. I played it off as attempting to be professional while in reality I did not here the comment) and a dance floor at an office party where nobody stopped dancing (the gig was so bad the person who booked me gave me another show that night to save me from walking into traffic dressed as Santa Claus) (note:the gig occurred at Christmas. My death fantasies are ALWAYS holiday centric).

So it being a small crowd of people who know performance is somewhat daunting but at least it will not end in a verbal or physical altercation. What concerned me was my show bring starred at by three show Business-ey people because we engulfed in the glitz and glamor of the "biz" react to jokes like any parent watching their spawn organize and star in an orgy that involve the homeless. With stern and confused silence. That being said with the lack of laughter I got to hear my material and I think I am kinda sorta almost okay with people seeing or maybe judging it.

Please come to the show

John Hastings UnRelentless 16:15 City Cafe 19 Blair Street. Come and decide if I should be okay with this material.

It's in Scotland so book your tickets now.
